Dog kennels are essentially enclosures made of wire or chain link that help insure the safety of your favorite dog. There are kennel designs for both inside and outside use. A galvanized wire or plastic coated wire kennel is a good choice as both are protected against rust. A chain link kennel would be a good choice for the same reason and as a plus they have good durability and strength. You can find indoor kennels and door gates made of plastic, metal and some very nice wooden ones as well.
Kennels come in different shapes and sizes and when selecting a dog kennel determine which size is best for your dog. The size of the kennel you choose should be determined by the size of your grown dog or dogs. Keep in mind when making your decision that the cute little Boxer puppy that just joined your family will grow into a large dog and will need plenty of room without being able to jump or climb out. Depending on the size of the kennel a divider, or dividers, can also be easily installed, keeping pets separated without the need of a second or third kennel.
Whether used inside or outside a kennel will help make the most of your pet’s playtime while protecting the animal from running loose and being where he or she should’t be. If outdoors it will keep your dog safe when facing other unexpected situations such as being in the middle of traffic on a street or roadway. Or being in your neighbors flower bed!
A dog run is very similar to outdoor kennels in how they are made and what materials they are made of. Runs are usually larger than kennels and are often times built in a rectangular shape making a good contained area for exercising. They are also made of wire and chain link fencing and have at least one gate. Runs can vary in price depending on the gauge of the wire or steel mesh and quality and size of the posts. Needless to say the larger they are the more they cost.
